Why are your bags less expensive than other manufacturers? We don't pay any middlemen or credit carrying charges. Web selling keeps our costs down and we pass on the savings in the form of low prices to you.
My company is rated in D&B and we have an excellent credit rating with all of our suppliers. Why do we have to prepay our order? We do not have the facilities to check credit or maintain an accounts receivable department, which helps us keep our prices to you low. Since the bags you order from Your Bag Lady are custom-made for you, we cannot proceed with your order until we receive payment.
Can I pay by company check instead of charging my order to Visa or MasterCard? Absolutely. Please remember that it takes time for your check to clear, and we cannot process your order until it does. If you send the check next day delivery, that will speed up the processing time.
How long have you been in business? We have been selling promotional bags since 1972 and started using the Internet, where we specialize in selling to trade show exhibitors in 1997.
What size bag should I order? If you're buying bags for a trade show, GET THE BIGGEST BAG YOUR BUDGET WILL ALLOW. Attendees will put other bags into yours and you'll get the most exposure at the lowest possible cost. Try a P18 or P19 patch handle bag, or an SD16 snap-handle bag. If you need just 500 or 1,000 bags in a hurry, the H16 hot stamped shopping bag is ideal.
How do I know what size artwork will look best on my bags? Use the width of the bag as your guide. Allow 4" down from the top of any bag size, and 2 - 3" up from the bottom. Your artwork should be sized to fit in between. As a general rule, you're better off using artwork that's a little larger than the space, rather than a little smaller. As this is billboard advertising, you want your name and message to appear as large as possible. Ask our art department for advice if you're unsure; they have years of experience and will be happy to answer your questions.
Can I see a sample of a bag style I'm interested in before ordering? Absolutely! Just fax or e-mail your request, including the bag number and color you prefer and we'll send out a sample -- at no charge -- the same day.
Why do you have overruns on your printed bags? For a printed bag order, we print rolls of poly on a printing press -- similar to a newspaper -- and then transfer the rolls to the bag making department where the printed rolls are folded, cut to size, sealed, the handle is applied and then they're packed in boxes. Many of these operations require quality control and produce some waste. The overruns -- and underruns -- of up to 20% are a waste allowance. If we ship more than a 20% overrun, the extra bags are yours free.
What if you ship less bags than what I paid for? All invoices show the quantity of bags ordered, which includes the 20% overrun, how many were actually shipped, the amount of the invoice, and the amount of prepayment. If there is a credit due you, our check for the overpayment will be included in the envelope.
What is EDI artwork? EDI stands for Electronic Data Interchange. It means the artwork was either created on a computer, or copied onto a disk from a mechanical. When printing more than one color, we need to have the artwork separated and marked with registery marks. Otherwise we have to take the artwork off the disk, separate the colors and print it out ... all of which require additional charges.
If I send you a bag I'm currently using, can you duplicate it? Yes, and No. We can duplicate the design and match ink colors if you send us original artwork with PMS indicated. We are not able to copy artwork off of the bag itself, and we may have to re-do the plates that another manufacturer made. Our bag size may be slightly different, the thickness of our poly may be different and the handle we use may come from a different mold. We will try to meet your specifications as closely as we can.
Can you match the ink colors that I want on the bag? We use the PMS Pantone matching ink system. If you don't specify a PMS color, we'll choose one and tell you which one(s) we're using. Of course, any PMS color will look different if printed on a bag color other than white.
Can you print white ink on a bag? White ink on a black bag will show up as grey. If you want white on black (or any other color), we'll print the whole bag black and drop-out the copy so it shows up as white. This full ink coverage requires an additional charge, so please contact us for a quote before ordering.
Why can't I get 'exact registration' of ink colors on a plastic bag? We print the rolls of poly (plastic) using rubber plates. As the poly speeds through each color station on the printing press, the poly shifts ever so slightly. This causes the print copy for each color to also shift, resulting in either a gap between ink colors, or causing one color to overprint or contaminate the other. Allow 1/8" between colors or supply 'trapped' art to eliminate that problem.
Can I get a photograph printed on a plastic bag? Yes, we can print in 4-color process on patch and snap handle bags to duplicate your photographs. Minimum quantities are10,000 bags (or over); please allow 20 working days for production. These plates are more expensive than spot color printing, so be sure to include those charges in your budget.
Suppose I decide to cancel an order? We will bill you for any charges that may have been incurred up to the time you cancel an order. That includes artwork, plates, printed film or bags already manufactured, plus a $50 cancellation fee.
If I reorder, do I have to pay for new plates? Absolutely not. We keep your plates for printed or hot stamped bag reorders on file for 5 years. As long as there's no change to the copy, there are no additional charges.
Can I get the plates returned to me? No, plates are our property. We will be happy to return your artwork upon request when you place your order.
Can I get an actual bag sample as a proof before production? Good question ... and it's like asking for one copy of the morning newspaper before it's fully printed. It's very expensive -- as high as $500 -- because all the steps need to be taken, as if the whole job were being printed and is recommended for large quantity orders only. We do send a black and white proof on paper at no charge for your approval whenever we do the artwork. If you wish, you can get color keys, which duplicate your design in color on acetate sheets, for color match, registration and copy size for an additional charge of $150.
Can I return plain bags that I ordered? Yes, if the bag is a stock size that we did not specifically order for you. We will refund your purchase price less the shipping charges; a 20% restocking fee applies.
